Front Garden Makeover

I’ve been dreaming to recreate our front garden for ages and this summer I finally started the process.

The front garden was mainly evergreen with Box topiary but with Box blight affecting most of the gardens including ours in the last few years, it was time to remove the diseased Box and create a whole new garden.

The inspiration for the front garden came from the wildflower meadow in our favourite park this year - Buckingham park in Shoreham by Sea. I just loved all the delicate soft colours of the wildflowers in the meadow.

Once we had the inspiration and then to fulfil our expectations we headed to our local garden centre. We stayed true to the colours in the wildflower meadow and chose plants in similar soft shades.

"the garden has become a wonderful haven for bees and butterflies too"

I do believe the garden we create should complement our personality in the same way as our homes. I think we have managed to achieve that in our front garden.

The garden is filled with subtle hues of sky- blues, lilacs, hazy mauves and varied tints of pinks.

It has been such a joy to see everything we planted blossom and grow and the garden has become a wonderful haven for bees and butterflies too.

Dahlias are in full bloom at the moment and look rather splendid and beautiful. This is the first time I’ve grown them and so happy to be rewarded with such beauty. I have been picking them regularly to put in vases indoors.

After all, there is nothing lovelier than a bouquet of flowers from your very own garden.
