Miniature Pond in a Pot

There is something sensual and tranquil about having a water feature in a garden. No matter how small your garden, there is always a way to have even the smallest water feature.

Water introduces a play of light and wonderful movement and there is something very soothing when you look at the reflections in the water.

“The sensual beauty of water is a pleasure which never fades and to see the sunlight dance upon the water is the magic that every garden needs”

I have a small garden and it’s impossible for me to have a large water feature in a small space. So for me the answer was to create a small pond in a pot.

I used a large waterproof glazed ceramic pot and simply filled it with water, and placed a little gravel at the bottom along with an oxygenating plant which you can buy in any garden centre that sells pond plants.

This plant will keep the water always clear and algae free so you don’t have to change the water.

I chose this wonderfully vibrant yellow Marsh Marigold with its shiny petals as my featured plant, to place in the centre of my mini pond. It returns every spring and flowers for ages if you keep dead heading and I just love it.

I simply love this little corner in my garden with my mini water feature and the birds love it too. I love seeing them perch on the edge and dip their beaks in the water and it really is a joy to see.

I have lots of plants growing around my pond and it’s lovely to see their reflection in the water in the sunlight.

Having even a mini water feature adds a little magic to the smallest garden.
