We welcome June for the longer and warmer days it brings with hopefully lots of summer sunshine. This is the month to celebrate the great outdoors with wonderful picnics and summer gatherings.
June this year is of course extra special with the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place all over the country.
No doubt there will be lots of street parties and other celebratory events both public and private, going on in many parts of the country and the world.
I am really looking forward to spending more time outdoors, in my garden on these longer summer evenings, and getting friends together for impromptu drinks and a bit of alfresco dining.
Food and drinks taken outside on a summer's evening is truly a magical affair.
To make your outdoor dining feel really special, bring out a pretty tablecloth, a few cushions, cosy throws, and adorn your garden table with empty jam jars filled with flowers from the garden.
For a final finishing touch add some tea lights to your outdoor table and let the party begin!
If you are looking for some inspiration for all your summer living then it’s well worth a visit to the ‘Spirit of Summer fair’ in association with House & Garden, June 23 - 26th at Olympia London.
This has everything you need for stylish summer living, showcasing wonderful home & garden interiors, fashion, and beauty as well as great food and champagne tasting.
You are guaranteed to be inspired by what’s on offer and it’s a great day out.
There will be experts at hand to show you just how to lay a beautiful tablescape and show you ways to refresh your living spaces, both in and out.
If you are feeling extravagant then adjoining to the ‘Spirit of Summer fair’ is the ‘Art & Antiques fair’ where you will find beautiful art and antiques for the home.
This month with summer in full bloom, enjoy the longer, lighter evenings and celebrate summer with your loved ones.
Why not hold a summer soirée at home in your garden - in your very own sanctuary and enjoy the simple pleasures which now more than ever are so vital in these uncertain times in a changing world.
Warm regards
Tara
