Garden (Sweet Pea Posey)

Filling our homes with freshly cut blooms from the garden is an absolute joy and one that makes me so happy.

I like nothing better than to see our home filled with vases of flowers and it’s wonderful to know that we are reducing our carbon footprint by growing and picking from our very own gardens, as most shop sold bouquets are grown abroad.

I just love growing sweet peas for their amazing beauty and scent and they really our one of my favourites and make the most wonderful cut flowers .

This year I grew them in a tall pot supported by bamboo canes and I have enjoyed picking them weekly to grace our home. They are truly, divinely beautiful.

I love them for their delicately coloured papery petals and they almost look as though they are made of tissue paper.

I grow both varieties of sweet peas - perennial and annual. The perennial variety has no fragrance but has a longer vase life. I have to say my favourite are the annuals as the scent is truly intoxicating and the more you pick them, the more blooms you get.

Sweet peas are a joy and when grown in a pot, you can place it anywhere within your border and among other plants in a sunny spot.

Equally they would look lovely on a patio or on a balcony as long as it’s a sunny position.
