Tara's August 2024 Letter

Here we are in August and in the midst of high summer. What a wonderful summer it has been with glorious days filled with sunshine.

As I write this months editors letter, bright sunlight is filtering through the window and I feel I could be sitting in a Mediterranean villa somewhere faraway in some exotic location.

If like me you didn’t get the chance to getaway this summer, then you would have truly appreciated the wonderful weather we have been blessed with this summer. I like to think there will be more sunny, warm days to come yet.

I love August in the garden as all the hard work is pretty much over for now and not a lot to do but a bit of dead heading to prolong the flowering period. So it allows me plenty of time just to really enjoy the garden.

"I like to think there will be more sunny, warm days to come yet"

Time to relax, breath in the beauty and fragrance which is heightened by the warmth of the sun. This simple act helps me to unwind, balance, calm and rejuvenate my mind and senses. I feel so grateful to have an outdoor space to enjoy this simple ritual on a daily basis.

This month I’ve been busy indoors rearranging pictures and adding a couple of new pretty floral themed vintage pictures we picked up recently. Sorting pictures gave me the perfect excuse to do some restyling elsewhere in the home too, which of course I love doing.

Making our home warm, beautiful and welcoming is a mantra I live by everyday. For me home is a place that evolves over time and gathers layers. I feel our home has many layers and I have tried to achieve the right balance of old and new in whatever we buy for the home.

I do love the patina of old objects and the stories and memories they carry with them.

To me all the flaws they have just enhances their beauty.

"Let’s celebrate our homes and make them special"

Enjoy the month of August, whatever you are doing - in the garden, in the home or on vacation. Let’s hope for many more days of sunshine before we embrace Autumn.

Warm regards

Tara
