Tara's January 2023 Letter

As a brand New Year dawns, I like to reflect briefly on the year that has passed and not dwell or linger there for too long.

Instead look with hope, and faith and set new affirmations for the New year ahead. I rather prefer ‘affirmations’ to ‘intentions’. An affirmation seems so much more solid somehow!

There is no better time than the New Year to think about our home - our sanctuary and celebrate this place that has given us so much joy over the festive period. It has been our stage for family gatherings, parties, delicious feasts and so much more.

Why not think about decorating our home throughout the year and not just at Christmas, with lush foliage and branches from the garden. Bringing in foliage will brighten the rather somber days of January and fill the home with scent too.

Entertaining is not just for Christmas. I love bringing friends together for impromptu dinners, nothing formal - just casual easy food that can be prepared easily so I have plenty of time to enjoy the chatter and occasion.

I think in the last few years we have become closer to our homes and are more aware of what really matters. We have found pleasure in the simple everyday things, like going for walks and appreciating nature and the wondrous world around us, I know I definitely have.

On that note, I am reading a wonderful book by Peter Wohllenen called ‘The Secret Network of Nature’ - I absolutely and thoroughly recommend this lovely book. It is simply fascinating and so very informative about the natural world around us.

I hope you make this a New Year to remember with new memories waiting to be made.

In the words of our very famous Dame Joan Collins - take every day as an adventure, try to achieve something, and enjoy something. A wonderful lady who has lived an amazing life and has very wise words.

I for one going to make this my mantra and remind myself of these valuable words each day.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.

Warm regards

Tara
