Tara's October 2023 Letter

We are now in full autumnal glory as the trees turn amber and gold, before winter's arrival. One of my favourite times of the year - a season of fire and farewells. I just love the flaming colours of autumn foliage, berries, and flowers.

I look forward to bringing autumn indoors by placing vases filled with birch and crab apple branches, rose hips, hydrangea and autumn foliage from the garden and nearby hedgerows.

At the beginning of October, I start collecting miniature Pumpkins, gourds and squashes to dot around the home and decorate the dining table, to set the scene for autumn. It’s something I have always done and it has become a tradition at this time of the year.

My Dahlias and Rudbeckias are still flourishing outside and I shall be adding those to my autumn table too to sit alongside my pumpkins.

A few colourful glass votives dotted around the table are the final touch to my autumn dining table.

Two great events taking place this month:

The ‘Spirit of Christmas fair’ 31 Oct - 6 Nov at the Olympia London - this is one of my favourite end-of-the-year events. A fabulous Christmas shopping event with the best of small, independent boutiques and British artisan producers.

Another exciting event is ’PAD London’( 10 - 16th Oct) at Berkeley Square in London's affluent Mayfair district.PAD London is the sister fair to PAD Paris which takes place every April in the beautiful surroundings of ‘Jardin des Tuileries’.

PAD London is London's leading fair for 20th Century Design and decorative arts. This is an event to inspire collectors, art consultants, museum experts, interior specialists, design practitioners and the general public.

Two really worthwhile events that I am looking forward to attending.

Happy October!

Warm regards

Tara
