I feel a certain sense of unparalleled peace and joy as February arrives. After the hustle and bustle of the last two months with all the festivities, February for me is a month of quiet calm as I plan for the year ahead.
I love the crisp sunny mornings walking to work and noticing the first daffodils and crocus peeping up here and there - a sure sign that spring is not far away.
Nature is slowly unfolding in our gardens and all my favourites like snowdrops, violets, primroses and hellebores are reappearing after their long slumber.
I am looking forward to bringing the first flowers of spring from the garden to display indoors to brighten and bring joy to the home.
February 14th is Valentine’s Day and while we like receiving flowers, it would be good to look towards sustainable flowers that are purely British-grown rather than plastic-wrapped imported kind.
‘Flowers from the farm’ is a nationwide network of British cut flower growers and you can find a grower near you. The flowers will be beautiful and seasonal.
‘Flowers from the farm’ is staging the RHS Flower School at Hampton Court Palace garden festival again this year in July.
