The Art of Display

Article and Photography by Tara de la Motte

Collecting the ingredients for a display takes years and the satisfaction you get from them is immense.

Each time you look at these displays they will evoke a special memory, therefore displays should speak of the homeowners passions and I wish to reflect this in my own home too. It is these unique arrangements that make a house more homely.

Elegant Accoutrement

An elegant desk inlaid with leather is the perfect place to display all the useful accoutrements, and provide ample space for dealing with correspondence.

A Touch of Turquoise

On the sophisticated Chippendale cabinet is a diverse range of decorative items to please the eye. Turquoise, in the form of glassware and pottery, creates accents of glorious colour. (Below)

Diamonds and Pearls

This beautiful plate is the crowning glory of this display; a small reminder of a time that has passed. The eye is drawn to diamonds, pearls, ornament, and literature. In all aspects a perfect melange. (Below)

I hope I have inspired you a little to integrate your personal treasures into your abode.
