Halloween Styling

Celts believed that on 31st October, it was a night of black magic, when witches ghosts, and spirits of the dead returned to earth.

They lit great bonfires to ward off witches but also to welcome the ghosts of their ancestors.

These days for most of us, Halloween has traditionally become a day to wear costumes, go trick or treating, carving pumpkins, and hosting parties with lots of edible treats.

I must admit I enjoy any occasion to decorate our home and Halloween is one of those occasions.

I like to dress twigs with lights and hanging pumpkin decorations and the house is dotted with mini pumpkins and votives. I always have a couple of larger carved pumpkins on the steps leading to our front door to welcome visitors.

Our mantle is adorned with Halloween decorations and the dining table is decorated in Halloween style.

On Halloween night I set the mood for our Halloween soirée by dimming the lights and lighting lots of candles and votives. The table is filled with Halloween nibbles and plenty of sweet treats, all displayed in Halloween-themed tableware collected over the years.

Finally, I dot a few more mini pumpkins on the table in between the Halloween dishes and bowls for a really festive feel.

Now the scene is set, it’s a date to celebrate with family and friends and enjoy the occasion.

Happy Halloween!

Warm regards

Tara
